Mission Statement

The mission of the Medical Education Futures Study is to examine the social mission of medical education during the current period of expansion, addressing the status of and proposing new approaches to achieve:

Racial/ethnic equity in medical education
A more robust primary care physician workforce
Improved geographic distribution of physicians

Vision Statement

The vision to achieve this mission includes:

Examining the social mission of medical education from retrospective and prospective viewpoints
Analyzing prior legislative and educational initiatives
Tracking current expansion activities
Disseminating research findings, policy briefs, and relevant electronic links
Creating an electronic community to engage interested educators, practitioners, policy makers, and members of the public
Developing policy strategies and recommendations
Communicating study findings through medical, health policy, and general interest publications
Publishing articles in medical literature documenting the findings
